Catamarans

More deck space per foot than any equivalent motor yacht. Twin hulls give exceptional stability — dramatically less rolling motion, which matters enormously if anyone in your group is prone to seasickness. Shallow draft means you can anchor closer to beaches. Ideal for large groups, families, and party bookings. Generally 20–40% more affordable than a motor yacht of similar length. The trade-off is speed: most catamarans cruise at 7–15 knots, making long runs to Phi Phi or Racha Noi slower than on a motor yacht.

Best for: Families, large groups of 15+, party charters, overnight cruises where space matters, budget-conscious bookings, and anyone who gets seasick on conventional boats.

Motor Yachts

Considerably faster at 13–30 knots, allowing you to comfortably reach distant destinations like Racha Noi or Phi Phi within a day charter. Interiors are typically more luxurious — full AC, flybridge sun deck, premium upholstery, and more powerful sound systems. The bow-to-stern layout means more movement in swells compared to a catamaran. Best suited for smaller, more intimate groups of 4–12 who prioritise comfort and speed over capacity.

Best for: Couples, honeymoons, small groups wanting a premium feel, charters to distant destinations, and overnight bookings where cabin quality matters.

Price Comparison

Power catamarans start from around 33,900 THB per day. Motor yachts start from 79,000 THB. Superyachts above 80ft begin at 130,000 THB and rise steeply from there. Overnight rates roughly double the day rate and include full board catering.

Quick Decision Guide

Group over 15 people → catamaran. Want the fastest route to Phi Phi → motor yacht. Budget under 60,000 THB → catamaran. Overnight with premium cabins → motor yacht. Large party or event → party catamaran. Honeymoon or anniversary → motor yacht or superyacht.
